Case Studies and Support Examples

Every situation is unique, and names and identifying details have been changed to protect privacy.

These stories reflect real-life types of support I provide, showing how I help clients with home organisation, moving, decluttering, and life transitions.

Preparing a Home for Market: Practical Staging Support

Cathy had lived in her home for many years and was now preparing to move. She enjoyed property programmes and browsing homes online, but realised her own home did not present in the same way.

As the property was due to go on the market, she wanted to make the most of its presentation while working within a limited budget.

During an initial consultation, we focused on simple, cost-effective improvements to enhance first impressions, including decluttering, tidying key areas, and identifying quick updates to improve overall presentation.

Practical adjustments were suggested, such as improving storage in the bathroom, refreshing small areas that needed attention, and improving kerb appeal so the house could be clearly seen from the road.

On the day of photography, the home was styled to improve light, flow, and visual space, allowing potential buyers to see the property at its best.

With preparation and guidance in place, Cathy felt confident going to market and was pleased with the outcome.

Supporting a Home Sale Through Presentation and Market Readiness

Jess had put her home on the market at a price recommended by her chosen estate agent, expecting viewings to follow. However, time passed with very little interest, and she was advised to consider reducing the price.

She wanted to understand why her property was not attracting viewings and contacted me for support.

I reviewed the property in the context of the local market, including comparable homes for sale in the area and how Jess’s home was being presented online.

While the property was in good condition and well located, there were opportunities to improve how it was positioned for potential buyers.

A tailored checklist and practical guidance were provided to help prepare the home for viewings, with a focus on presentation and first impressions.

Following these changes, Jess was able to move forward with confidence and the property went on to sell.

Supporting a Family Through a Home Transition: A Real Experience

A client was faced with the difficult task of managing her parents’ home during a time of significant change and uncertainty.

Living some distance away, she found the situation particularly overwhelming, as important decisions needed to be made while also coping with family illness and bereavement.

The home itself held many memories, and the practical and emotional aspects of sorting through it felt closely intertwined.

Support was provided in a calm, structured way, working step by step to help reduce pressure and avoid the need for repeated travel where possible.

This included coordinating key stages of the process, preparing the property so it could be presented at its best, and ensuring nothing was removed without agreement.

Throughout, the focus remained on creating space for thoughtful decision-making and reducing the emotional load of the process.

In situations like this, the aim is not just to manage a property, but to help make a difficult time feel more contained, supported, and manageable

Supporting a Client Through Downsizing and a Family Move

A client in her 90s was preparing to move from a long-term family home into accommodation within her son’s household, where she would have her own bedroom, sitting room, and kitchen space.

This required a significant downsizing process, as not all possessions could be taken to her new home.

Her family were supporting where they could, but found the scale of decisions and the time pressure of an upcoming house sale difficult to manage alongside other commitments.

Support was provided by working calmly and gradually through belongings, allowing time to reflect on items and the memories attached to them, while also helping to keep the process focused and practical.

As the situation evolved, additional support was needed when the client was temporarily hospitalised. At that point, coordination continued with her family to ensure the home could still be safely and respectfully progressed.

Items were sorted for keeping, donation, recycling, or disposal, and arrangements were made for storage where needed, including specialist handling for more delicate belongings.

Once the new living spaces were ready, the client’s rooms were set up in a way that reflected both familiarity and practicality, taking into account her reduced mobility and the need for easy access to essential items.

The aim throughout was to support a major life transition in a way that felt structured, respectful, and as manageable as possible for both the client and her family.

Supporting Digital Decluttering and Organisation

Karen was frustrated by rising storage costs and a growing volume of digital files and photos that had become difficult to manage or navigate.

We began with her laptop and email system, working through a structured digital decluttering process to reduce unnecessary files and improve overall organisation.

Folders were reorganised into a clearer structure, documents were renamed for easier identification, and duplicate or outdated files were removed.

Her email account was also streamlined by removing unwanted subscriptions and organising remaining messages into a more manageable system.

We then moved on to her phone, where duplicate and low-quality photos were removed, and remaining images were organised into accessible albums.

The result was a simpler, more efficient digital environment that reduced storage pressure and made everyday use easier.

Supporting Bereavement Paperwork and Digital Organisation

Tom contacted me following a bereavement, as he was unsure how to manage household paperwork and digital administration that had previously been handled by his partner.

We met to establish priorities and begin working through both physical paperwork and digital files, including emails and documents on his laptop.

Together, we organised what needed to be kept, reviewed, or securely removed, and created a simple system to help him manage ongoing paperwork with more confidence.

His digital space was also reorganised, including email folders and basic file structure, to make important information easier to find and manage.

During this process, key documents, including insurance information, were located and brought together in one place.

The aim was to create clarity and reduce overwhelm so that day-to-day administration became manageable again.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by clutter, preparing to move, managing paperwork, or struggling to keep on top of digital organisation, you don’t have to tackle it alone.

I provide calm, practical, hands-on support tailored to your situation—helping you create order, clarity, and space to move forward.
