Bereavement Support

Practical help after bereavement

When a parent, partner or other family member dies, there can be a great deal to sort out, often at a time when you feel least able to tackle it. Whether you're faced with clearing a family home, sorting through a lifetime of belongings, or taking on paperwork and household administration previously managed by someone else, it can be difficult to know where to start.

I provide calm, practical, hands-on support to help you work through these tasks at your own pace. From sorting possessions and organising paperwork to preparing a property for sale, I can help make the process more manageable.

You don't have to tackle everything yourself, and you don't necessarily need a traditional house clearance company. I can offer a more personal, flexible alternative.

Particularly helpful if you:

  • Are sorting through a parent's or other family member's home following a bereavement
  • Need help deciding what to keep, donate, sell or dispose of
  • Are responsible for preparing a property for sale or handing it back
  • Have inherited years of paperwork and household records
  • Are taking on household administration previously managed by a partner
  • Live some distance away or have limited time to deal with everything

Sorting belongings and managing a property

Sorting through a lifetime of possessions can be physically and emotionally demanding. I provide practical help with:

  • Working through belongings, room by room
  • Sorting items for keeping, donation, sale, recycling or disposal
  • Arranging donations and coordinating house clearance where needed
  • Preparing a property for sale, letting or handing back
  • Liaising with family members and other professionals where appropriate

You remain in control of decisions about belongings, while I help with the practical work needed to move things forward.

Paperwork, financial records and digital organisation

Sorting through someone else's paperwork can be challenging, especially when you're not sure what needs to be kept, what is important or where to start.

As a qualified accountant, I bring additional experience and understanding to this part of the process.

I can help with:

  • Sorting and organising financial and household paperwork
  • Finding and bringing together important documents, such as insurance policies, bank statements and pension information
  • Following up on information discovered while sorting through paperwork
  • Helping with enquiries to banks and other organisations, including using account tracing services where appropriate
  • Organising emails, digital files and household records
  • Creating straightforward systems for managing ongoing administration

My role is to provide practical support with paperwork and information, rather than legal advice or formal estate administration.

Calm, practical support at your pace

Every situation is different. You may need help with one particular task, several sessions to work through paperwork and belongings, or more extensive assistance with a property.

My approach is methodical, discreet and respectful. I understand that some decisions take time, while others may need to be made more quickly, particularly when a property needs to be sold or handed back.

You remain in control, but you don't have to manage all the practical work alone.
